WC police nab burglary suspect

Walnut Creek police on Thursday arrested a parolee who, a resident says, broke into a neighbor's house.

According to Sgt. Lanny Edwards, an officer happened to be driving along and saw a man running eastbound on Geary Road near Hall Lane at about 12:33 p.m. The man was later identified as Damien Wilkerson, 29, who was on parole out of Solano County for burglary.

Here's more from Edwards:

Moments later, the citizen reported hearing glass break and then seeing a black male in the neighbor’s residence. The black male then fled on foot. Responding officers set up a perimeter and suspect Wilkerson was contacted near the corner of Monet Circle and First Avenue. A burglary of the residence was confirmed and Wilkerson was identified by the officer and witnesses and arrested at for residential burglary.

Wilkerson was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of burglary and violation of his parole. Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact the Walnut Creek Police Department at (925) 943-5844.
