At about 10:50 am, officers were dispatched to the Wells Fargo Bank at 1920 Tice Valley Blvd. to investigate a take-over style bank robbery. The two suspects, described as black males wearing black-hooded sweat shirts cinched around their faces, entered the bank.
One of the suspects had a large, black, automatic pistol and ordered everyone to the ground. The suspects jumped the counter and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the bank.
A witness provided a license plate of a vehicle leaving the scene. A black 1998 Honda Civic was located a couple of blocks from the bank abandoned with the same license plates provided by the witness. It was later learned that the Honda was reported stolen out of San Francisco and had unreported stolen license plates attached to it.
The vehicle may have been used in the robbery. There may have been an additional suspect outside of the bank and a fourth suspect as a get-away driver. No one was injured in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Steve Bertolozzi of the Walnut Creek Police department at (925) 943-5844.
Update 2:05 p.m. Just heard on the radio, driving to pick up my son from school, that all the police activity had to do with a robbery at the Wells Fargo bank in the Rossmoor shopping center on Tice Valley Boulevard.
Update 1:55 p.m. Got ahold of the dispatcher, who could only say that the lockdowns had nothing to do with anything happening at the schools themselves, but in the area near the schools. A press release is pending.
1:40 p.m. Just got word that my son's elementary school near downtown Walnut Creek is on lockdown because of some nearby police activity.
And so is Las Lomas High School, according to a co-worker who was listening to KGO-AM810 radio. But according to KGO radio, the police wouldn't tell them what was going on.
I'll check with police to find out what's going on. In the meantime, anyone hear anything?
This means, I will have to leave work to pick up my son. The school won't let him walk home on his own.
The last time both schools being placed on lockdown was when a robber hit the Washington Mutual bank at the corner of South Main Street and Newell Avenue in October.

Huh, why do they need to lock down John Muir and Los Lomas when the robbery was in Rossmoor?
Rather than a comment on the actual content of your posting, a suggestion on your method of operation while trying to obtain your information….while police personnel are in the midst of dealing with a crisis, it would probably be a good idea to avoid disrupting dispatchers with curiosity inquiries. Lord knows if it were my family in trouble and needed police assistance, I’d feel better knowing that dispatchers were focusing on providing police officers with vital, most likely life-saving, information and not being distracted with answering unrelated and unnecessary calls for information. Perhaps you could contact the city’s public information office, city manager or main police administration line instead.
So, I do not really believe it will have effect.
