Burglar tries, fails to break in and steal money from Heather Farm Park Swim Center

Someone wearing a mask and carrying a "distinctive" backpack with a large "X" on the back tried to break into the Heather Farm Park swim center early Friday morning.

Here's the press release from Sgt. Lanny Edwards:

At 5:15 a.m., WCPD Officers responded to a report of a commercial burglary that occurred during the night at the Heather Farm Swim Center in Heather Farm Park.

Video surveillance showed the responsible breaking into the office at 4:30 a.m., wearing a a mask, sunglasses, gloves, cap and a distinctive backpack with a large “X” on the back (possibly in duct tape). The responsible spray painted some of the surveillance cameras to hide his actions. Despite his efforts, the swim center secures all monies and the responsible left empty handed.

If the disguise or backpack looks familiar to any of your readers, they are encouraged to contact Officer Dickey at (925) 943-5844 and reference case number 09-16596.
