Walnut Creek mom, teen son identified as victims in Mt. Diablo murder-suicide

Contra Costa Sheriff's deputies are investigating what appears to be the murder-suicide of a 51-year-old woman and her 16-year-old son, a junior at Las Lomas High school, that occurred last Friday night.

In a press released obtained by Claycord.com, Sheriff's Capt. Daniel Terry says it looks like Judith Williams first shot her son , Adam Williams, "before turning the gun on herself." Terry added the investigators, searching her Walnut Creek home, found a suicide note.

The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. Friday when State Parks Police notified the Sheriff's Department that a shooting had occurred and that the deceased victims were at the top of the mountain.

Autopsies were performed Monday, and the coroner's office determined that Adam Wiliams died of gunshot wounds to the head and chest, and Williams died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Terry said investigators have conducted numerous interviews and found that the handgun used in the shooting was registered to Judith Williams.

The Contra Costa Times, quoting Judith Williams ex-husband, Jim Williams, says that Judith Williams had fallen into dire financial hard times recently.

The funeral is set for Friday in Fair Oaks, outside Sacramento, where Jim Williams, Adam's father, lives.
