The horror mounts, not just with the Jaycee Dugard case but with the case of the missing 5-year-old boy

Not sure there is much more left to say. ...

As today closed, we learned that authorities are now searching the hellhole Antioch home of Phillip and Nancy Garrido, Jaycee Dugard's accused kidnappers, for evidence that could link Phillip Garrido to a string of prostitute killingsi n the 1990s.

What in the hell did Jaycee Dugard and her daughters, fathered by registered sex offender Phillip Garrido, have to live with? I'm feeling overwhelmed, speechless.

Oh, and then there was Contra Costa County Sheriff Warren Rupf's devastating admission earlier today "that a deputy missed an opportunity to rescue Dugard in 2006," after "a neighbor tipped authorities that young children were living in squalor" in Garrido's backyard.

The deputy went to the house but did not ask to look in the backyard and concluded that, at most, the situation was a code violation, Rupf said.

Meanwhile, news broke late this afternoon that the foster parents of a missing 5-year-old Fremont boy with cerebral palsy have been arrested in connection with his death.

The San Francisco Chronicle says Louis Ross, 38, is being held on suspicion of the murder of Hasanni Campbell: Jennifer Campbell, 33, who is Hasanni's aunt and Ross' fiancee and who is reportedly six months pregnant, "was being held on charges related to homicide." The body of the boy, missing since August 10, has not been found; police are searching Ross and Campbell's Fremont home.

Okay, I need to stop reading the news right now. I am going to take my son and his friend and meet my husband for dinner, and I will try to be thankful for this time that we have together tonight.

Hi Soccer Mom,

Yes, I read your blog this morning...but I will be away from all media all day. I shall enjoy my fruit collecting and talking with farmers at the two markets I love on Saturday - Clayton downtown (my town), and Pleasant Hill. Then lunch with my loving family and precious sweet little girl.

Happy Day, and love and hug your family.

Hi Lemon Lady!
What a wonderful thing to do today! I had fun last night with my son and his friend--the two boys chattering, chattering, chattering about gossip at their new middle school. Teachers, other kids. Hmm. Boys? Gossip?
Then we came home, and they built their camp-out set up in the living room, and I did not turn on my laptop. Rather, I did something I haven't done in a while. I picked up a novel to read.
Hey, are you going to be around WC's market tomorrow? I'd love to meet some of your farmer buddies!
