I've been a bit slow on the uptake, but I realized, yeah, that's right, with the start of 2010, we're entering a whole new decade. And it suddenly dawned on me to ask myself: What the hell have I been doing the past 10 years, individually and in relationship to everything else?
OMG.
There is lots to tell, and maybe I'll do that in the coming weeks. Personally, I can say it's been a very challenging decade, in good ways and in bad. If nothing else, I started this Crazy blog.
Hey, remember the Y2K scare? Oh, so long ago!
All I can say right now is that I'm surprised I'm not in more of a glum mood.
But what about you? What have you learned? What amazing things have happened? What things have not been so easy? Remember, you can post anonymously.

Good god, I never thought about what's happened in the last 10 years, but it has been fast and furious. I'm on my 7th position with my third company (all upward, thank god), bought and remodeled my first house and have gotten married. I've made new friends and had fall outs with others, and have gone on some amazing trips. Fun 10, I have to say.
I became a Mother (when I thought it may never happen).
I became the Lemon Lady.
And, Ava has a really cool Daddy!
We've survived some pretty scary health challenges and live to tell. Life is good.
The world goes on, in spite of the gloom and doom out there. We must forge on, and forage on. :)
Had a kid, made an addition to my WC home, started some new friendships, got very involved with the school and other community based activities.
Got to live in this awesome community for the last ten years!
The last ten years seem to have gone by in the blink of an eye. Remember when the period from Thanksgiving to Christmas seemed like forever?
Ten years ago we had two early grade school children. No one is ready to go to college and I feel the empty nest approaching, and I'm sad.
Sorry, that was "now one"
Plus side: got new job about 10 yrs ago, promoted a couple times, making OK money. Still employed, despite recession, but god knows most workers in the modern economy (myself included) can get handed our walking papers in a moment's notice.
Negative side: my mother passed away in 2006, and I got an eviction notice literally the next day from new landlords at the apartment where I'd lived for more than 20 years, and several months after I moved from SF to WC, my cat died from kidney failure (which turned out to be related to the China-made pet food that hit the news the following day). In the meantime, the condo I bought in Walnut Creek has lost at least $50,000 to $75,000 in value. Oof.
On the national front, Obama's election was thrilling, and I was so happy to see the last of George Bush. Now, if only Dick Cheney would fade into the night.
Bottom line: Bring on the new decade. I'm hoping for some good news for myself, my friends, the community and the country.
Fun decade till the crash. Would like to close out the decade with a job.
Hmm...does the decade officially end this year or at the end of 2010? I meant to say that I'd like to close out this year with a job!
