Eat at Rocco's this week, and you and Rocco's will be donating big-time to Haitian relief efforts

I don't get to Rocco's Ristorante Pizzeria enough! It's a fun, locally run, family-owned business that also serves good pizza. Owner Rocco Biale is also generous towards local kids sports teams.
Well, Rocco Biale is really stepping up to the proverbial plate. He's holding a fundraiser Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to help people in Haiti devastated by the 7.0 earthquake on January 12. The confirmed death toll now stands at 111,481, and more than 600,000 have been left homeless.

According to an e-mail sent by City Councilman Kish Rajan, if you dine in or take-out from Rocco's for lunch or dinner these three days, Biale will donate 25 percent of the proceeds to the Red Cross.

Twenty-five percent! That's very generous, especially in these tough times for restaurateurs.

"Sadly the devastation in Haiti continues, and the human toll is just incredible," Rajan writes. "And while millions (including many of you) have already made generous donations, the need continues to be enormous. So, we wanted to create another opportunity to make a difference."

You can also leave donations at Rocco's, which the restaurant will forward to the Red Cross.

Rocco’s is located at 2909 Ygnacio Valley Rd in Walnut Creek , in the Encina Grande shopping center. For more info call (925) 947-6105 or visit http://www.roccospizzeria.com/

"Please bring your family, friends and neighbors to Rocco’s one day next week for great food and atmosphere, and to support this most worthy cause. Let’s bring our community together and show what we can do!"

Bravo to Rocco's for doing this!

As Soccer Mom notes, twenty-five percent is a hefty donation! That's very impressive, and much more generous than one normally hears of anywhere.

As a relative newcomer to WC, I've actually never been to Rocco's, but I'll be sure to keep them in mind now.

Remember how the Red Cross skimmed millions of dollars from 9-11 donations until people like Bill O'Reilly blew the whistle on them?

DO NOT donate to the Red Cross. The Salvation Army is a far better and ethical choice.

Bill O'Reilly and ethical in the same sentence?! Ethical? How come he didn't acknowledge the cash settlement he made to one of his producers for sexual harassment even after tape recordings confirmed that he is a lecherous louse? He's a pig that wallows in Fox Network's Sty along with that weeping, wimpy, whiney, glen beck.

Go turn off the half truths and lies and go buy a pizza at Rocco's. In honor of your hero Bill, have them throw some ham on it for you to eat.

Rocco is a tremendous resource for our community, supporting activities all over town for over a decade. Now Rocco is helping with the Haiti crisis.

Thanks very much Rocco!

The beauty of local establishments. Support them!

I wish Rocco would expand to downtown WC.

I'm heading to Rocco's this week!

Not sure what you are referring to, but Rocco has never been a teacher at Foothill (or anywhere else).
