Karl Rove, national hero and the Brain behind Bush, in Lafayette Tuesday

Did you get your ticket to lunch with Republic icon Karl Rove?

Alas, it is TOO late. An eagle-eyed reader pointed that out.
The former senior advisor and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush will be at Lafayette’s Veteran’s Hall as a guest of Political Vanguard and the Contra Costa County Republican Party.
Well, if you can't get it, you could always pick up a copy of his new  book, Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight. Lots of copies available at Barnes and Noble.

Rove is now a political analyst and commentator with Fox News, Newsweek, and The Wall Street Journal. The event starts at 11:30 a.m. at the hall, 3780 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Lafayette.

For information visit www.contracostagop.com.

Please no. This man is personally responsible for Bush and the tactics of divisive politics. But I guess if Gordon Liddy a convicted felon can give speeches then I guess anyone can. How about showing a little class and not showing up?

"National hero"???

C3 Collective has closed, Soccer Mom. I could use a source, and you're obviously smoking the good stuff. National Hero? Puke.

Anonymous said...

...or, it could be sarcasm.

Anonymous said...

Hmm, sarcasm.
In suburbia?

Anonymous said...

Well, at least nobody is open-minded here. Group think prevails!

Anonymous said...

JoJo Potato- Divisive politics the exclusive province of Bush and Rove? Gee, just look at how happy and united the country is under Barry O!

Anonymous said...

Oh, and by the way, the link to the website says it's "Sold Out!"

Martha Ross said...

Oh, no! I didn't get my ticket in time!

Beau Hunk said...

Just think of it in terms of simple math operations.

The American people are the numerator and Obama is the divisor. The resultant answer is socialism.

Math is such a pure science...

Anonymous said...

Aw, shucks, darn it!

Anonymous said...

Beau are almost right the People are the numerator and the President is the divisor and we all could see the previous eight years what happens if the divisor is a "zero".

Math is a pure science.....

Anonymous said...

Well you are all making fun but the dumbocrats could learn a thing or two from this fine American.

Anonymous said...

History will not be kind to this man and his dubious accomplishments.

Anonymous said...

what conservative has history been kind to?
i can name a whole lot of progressives and people on the left who are now considered the "good guys" of history. i cant really think of any conservatives... not in the last 100 years at least..

Anonymous said...

I'm in line!... to step on his toe

Martha Ross said...

So, any of you going to go see Mr. Rove? Would love to hear an eyewitness report!

Anonymous said...

National Hero? National Zero is more like it. David Plouffe nearly gave the man an aneurism on ABC's 'This Week" program last Sunday.

Beau Hunk said...

I'm hoping to buy a scalper's ticket outside the door. The going rate is $723. If successful, I will report on this soiree.

Anonymous said...

David Plouffe was shredded by Karl last Sunday.

Always amazing how "open minded" the liberal defenders of free speech are.

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure what your point might be Anon 8:41?

I don't see anybody trying to prevent Rove from speaking? But isn't free speach also the right of people (including liberals) to say what they think about Karl Rove?

Thud said...

I enjoy visiting this site as it makes me feel alittle more in touch with W.C. during my months away but posts like this and the snide comments give me pause for thought as the tone becomes less than polite.

Anonymous said...

Rove is awesome, you dumbocrats are idiots.

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:08 I'm sure to you Rove is awesome, given that the tone of your post reveals that you must have mental development of a five year old.

It seems obvious to you anybody who can tie their own shoes must be awesome.

8:41 PM aka 1:08,

Rove fans are teabagging RepubliKKKans.

8:41 AM,

Thanks, we are open-minded Liberals. So much better than closed-minded war criminals.

Anonymous said...

Can't we all get along? Why all the hate? The chosen one is in charge..And all is well with world. Why worry about yesterday's leaders? The chosen one has been the leader of the free world for over a year. It is the chosen one's repsonsibility to end the war, fix the economy, end poverty, end the hate dialouge, etc...or does he just campaign?

Anonymous said...

6:14 I agree why can't we just get along. As you rightfully point out Obama has been chosen by the American citizens to be in charge, while the one who just campaigned but was not chosen by the voters is not in charge.

It would be interesting to see Karl Rove, but it would be too disturbing. He represents a terrible chapter in our history. In recent discussions about the "teabaggers", I have wanted to go out and make oppositional signs and stage a counter protest. I guess this would be giving them too much credence though.

Beau Hunk said...

I attended the Rove event. Is is summed up fairly well in Lisa V's ibabuzz post:

http://www.ibabuzz.com/politics/

I looked pretty closely and I saw no horns or a forked tail on Karl.

Crazy I.S. reported on lane closures near Ygnacio Valley Road and the hospital. She should also report on brain closures when it comes to liberals contemplating Karl Rove.

Anonymous said...

Beau why would expect any credibility with your statement about some liberals contemplating Rove while being completely silent on the some of the conservatives contemplating Obama and the democrats?

Anonymous said...

Obviously, the far-right fringe is out of its mind about health care reform. And throughout these past weeks, its behavior has gone from irresponsible, to racist, to unapologetically dangerous.

Why can't the left be just as extreme? rove, palin, rush, beck, balkin, cheney to name a few are all using coded and not-so-coded language that speaks directly to a trigger-happy right-wing. Unlike the policy-driven arguments made by mostly pacifistic liberals during the Bush years, this language is a direct and precise emboldening of right-wing extremism -- and terrorism.

I say we "media elite" or to intrerpret having an above average IQ should be just as extreme as these very dangerous people. What does America do with terrorist? That's right you can say it....

Daffodil Hugger said...

Calm down everyone, please.

Anonymous said...

This extreme behavior from the right is not about health care reform, they would have been just as extreme if it had been any policy. This is about race. I can say it because i fit the profile, white, old, bit overweight. This is the profile of the TEABAGGERS, white, old, fat, evangelicals. I have tried to spot any diversity in this group, occationally i spot a young person. This is about being threatended by a black president, a woman house speaker, a gay man, black men, jew men in congress. This is why they want their "country back" they want their white country back when white men were in power.

It is that simple, no need to complicate. But I say there are more of us than they are of them. Even though I fit that profile.

Anonymous said...

The far-right is out of its mind with talk of violence and armed insurrection. With conservative leaders marginalizing the crazies. john boehner, palin, limbaugh and beck legitimacing this behavior

They used to be smart, at some point being educated and having the ability to debate policy was important. what happened? Is there are reason why they are dumming themselves down? Let's argue about the politics. But let's agree, however, that violence, racism, vandalism and, yes, terrorism should never be part of the equation. As leaders of the Republican Party, as leaders of the conservative movement in America, these men and women have a responsibility to verbally disarm the right-wing radicals and extremists who are well-known for their love of guns and of their predilection for violent intimidation. Case in point the 9 militia people that were just arrested.

You can no longer call yourselves republicans or teabaggers anymore if you continue to endorse such behaviour, you are now TERRORIST!

Anonymous said...

9:53 let's hire Rove he would know excatly how to end the sentence.

The republicans feel if they say enough lies over and over again they somehow feel it is the truth. Rove and Cheney were masters of this, Bush went along for the ride. the palin nut, beck and gush have learned well from these people.

By the way has fat boy rush left the country to Costa Rica?

Anonymous said...

March 30, 2010 6:14 PM according your group he is the "anticrist".

"It is the chosen one's repsonsibility to end the war, fix the economy, end poverty, end the hate dialouge" YES our President is working on fixing all the F..ups that your president left for us.

Like Bill Maher said "Democrats in America were put on earth to do one thing: drag the ignorant hillbilly half of this country into the next century, which in their case is the 19th -- and by passing health care, the Democrats saved their brand. A few months ago, Sarah Palin mockingly asked them, "How's that hopey-changey thing working out for ya?" Great, actually. Thanks for asking. And how's that whole Hooked on Phonics thing working out for you?"

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately 10:02 could be right. There does seem to be an undercurrent of racism in this anti government/anti Obama movement. It appears that the right are clinging to the past rather than working toward an equitable future for all and as the dialogue turns hateful, we lose our dignity as a nation.

I can't believe that anyone would take this guy seriously. It's obviously not the Democrats who have brain closures. Republicans tout being ignorant as a GOOD thing!

It's clear by the tone in her words that the blog author has no love for Rove, being the liberal she is I would expect that. How are you going to feel when your friends are shown the door in November and the Republicans write a bill to repeal Obama's health care beast? I suspect you won't be so happy then.

Anonymous said...

Soccer Mom is a dumbocrat just like the rest of you sheeple.

Anonymous said...

Anon 6:41 this is really sad. Independent how one feels about the health care bill, it seems clear that you must be getting your information about how our government works probably from populist demagogues such as the commentators on Fox News.

Currently the Republicans have 41 seats in the Senate. In 2010 36 seats are up for re-election but do you really think the Republicans will pick up 19+ seats in the Senate to have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate to move the Senate version to a vote? By the way only 18 of the 36 are held by Democrat, so even if the Democrats can't hold a single seat the Republicans would only reach 59 seats. But even 60 wouldn't be enough because Obama would certainly veto any such bill, so in order to override the veto the Republican needed an even larger veto proof majority.

Also in the House they might win some seats most people think not enough to get the majority, but I agree who knows? But you can't think they will get from the current minority to a veto proof majority in this election?

As you can see your dream will not happen at least not in the next almost three years. While some of the more populists Republicans still run on the repeal message to energize uneducated voters like you, many Republicans already distance themselves from that promise which they will not be able to deliver. Because they realize that it is not wise to set yourself up for such a disappointment for your voters. If you would actually read some of the reports outside Fox News you would have noticed that.

People, you have not calmed down yet. I may have to tell the magic bunny not to bring you any candy eggs unless you do.

I am serious about this and I do have connections.

“Soccer Mom is a dumbocrat just like the rest of you sheeple.” REALLY IS THIS THE BEST YOU CAN DO?

The people who make up the Tea Party movement are largely conservative and get their news from Fox; they're generally old and of moderate to low income; and they're fairly convinced that their taxes are going to rise in the next few years, even though they likely won't. Those conclusions are part of a new study put together by The Winston Group, a conservative-leaning polling and strategy firm run by the former director of planning for former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.

Forty-seven percent of Tea Party respondents said that Fox News was either the top or second source of news they turn to, compared with 19 percent of the overall public who said the same thing.

These data points suggest that the Tea Party crowd is comprised predominantly of conservatives. And, not surprisingly, the demographics of the movement seemingly align with those who traditionally vote for the conservative candidate as well. Fifty-six percent of Tea Party respondents are male; 22 percent are over the age of 65 (compared with just 14 percent who are between the ages of 18 and 34); and 23 percent fall in the income range of $50,000 and $75,000.

It's the type of group that would benefit the most from Democratic governance, with commitments to Social Security, Medicare, and middle-class job creation. But the Tea Party crowd is decidedly sour on the Democratic agenda. Fifty-six percent of Tea Party respondents said they believe cutting spending will create jobs. And while a huge chunk won't see their taxes affected if the Bush tax cuts expire for those making over $250,000, 82 percent think they will, in fact, go up.

The Tea Partiers and their ilk have been screeching about high taxes and out-of-control spending since a Democrat moved back in the White House. No matter that 95 percent of Americans have had their taxes chopped. Who needs facts when everyone knows that Dems always hike taxes. (It's written in Leviticus; look it up).

It would have been nice to have seen more of the teabaggers huffing and puffing about George W. Bush's penchant to spend like there's no tomorrow, but it's perhaps unfair to expect consistency from a group of folks who believe the Boston Tea Party was the ultimate anti-tax protest.

In reality, some colonists were steamed over the British taxing them without giving them representation in Parliament and merchants were riled that new, lower taxes favored importers. Tea Partiers have representation and they know it. Their problem is that their representation is largely by Democrats.

I don’t get what you’re movement is about? We had The Women’s movement for women’s rights, we had Civil Rights movement for equal rights for black people, what is the teabaggers movement about? No Goverment? If you want no government move to Somalia!

Anonymous said...

“Forty-seven percent of Tea Party respondents said that Fox News was either the top or second source of news they turn to” This would explain why they are so angry , however, it is not to late to stop being so studid and ignorant.

I have compiled a list of News organizations that are reputable and are true journalist:

FOX News Channel broadcast on March 30, conservative radio host and Fox anchor Hannity tells his audience, "Can I add one thing. I think we won the debate."
"When you think of the vast majorities they have in Congress, and they had the bribe back room deals, corruption that's because of the Tea Party movement, all these Tim McVeigh wannabes."

Why a crowd full of conservatives would cheer being compared to the white supremacist sympathizer who was executed for killing 168 people in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing which destroyed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building is beyond belief.

They can no longer be called republicans but TERRORIST!

If anyone thinks HCR will be repealed, they're delusional. The Dems front-loaded HCR with great stuff like: Preventing pre-existing condition exclusions and closing the donut hole. Is repealing these things going to be the GOP platform?

Good luck!
