UPDATE: Missing Las Lomas High student found and mother under investigation

 UPDATE, Sept 12 -- Police announced that Larissa Huntsman was found Tuesday at a home in Concord and that she had voluntarily gone missing. However, police will refer the case to the Contra Costa District Attorney's office for possible prosecution of the 16-year-old's mother, Laura Huntsman. The Walnut Creek woman is Larissa's biological but non-custodial parent and had helped her daughter stay in hiding while refusing to cooperate with police.



Walnut Creek police are investigating whether Las Lomas high student Larissa Huntsman disappeared nearly two weeks ago with the help of a biological relative or another adult who does not have custodial rights. Police say neither of the 16-year-old girl's parents have custody, and that Larissa's mother, Laura Huntsman, who lives in Walnut Creek, has not been cooperating with investigators' efforts to find her daughter.

One of the major concerns in this case is that Larissa, who was last seen leaving campus around 1 p.m Friday, August 24, has a medical condition that requires she take medication daily. Police don't believe she has been taking her medication.

Police say there is nothing to indicate that Larissa is the victim of a stranger abduction.  But she has not been seen since the afternoon of August 24. It is unknown if she left the school on foot or in a car.

As police continue to investigate the case, they are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the girl. Anyone with information about Huntsman’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Walnut Creek Police Department at (925) 943-5844.

Huntsman is 5 foot 3 inches and 125 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue v-neck, blue jean shorts and blue sneakers.
