The Great Tiffany’s Heist

So, I don’t regularly cover Walnut Creek city or police news much anymore, but I couldn’t resist this. Some guys used a stolen white pickup truck to force open those big imposing front doors of Tiffany and Co. shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday.

One man backed the truck up into the doors, while three others, wearing masks, ran inside, and used hammers to smash open a display case. They grabbed a small amount of jewelry and took off.

Walnut Creek police said they received multiple 911 calls at around 5:47 a.m.
Walnut Creek police Lt. Steve Gorski told ABC7 that getting into Tiffany's was quite a feat. "The outside of Tiffany's is pretty secure," he said. "Also, on this inside their merchandise is pretty secure so it took 'em awhile, probably longer than they had anticipated."
Witnesses reported seeing the suspects drive off in the vehicle, described as a "Chevy Blazer-type" vehicle. Police later learned that the white truck had been stolen from Citrus Heights.

Investigators are following up on numerous leads and reviewing security footage.

They are also looking at whether the Tiffany burglars have any connection to two men who were arrested following a smash-and-grab at JC Penny Department Store in Antioch about an hour earlier, the Contra Costa Times reported. The JC Penny burglary happened at 4:58 a.m. Two men from Oakland were caught after trying to flee in a blue SUV but crashing it west of Laurel Road.

Anyone with information about the Tiffany’s case is asked to call the police at (925) 256-3557

But they needed to be wearing little black dresses ... not masks.
