Woman Attempts Suicide at Concord Middle School, reports Claycord.com

This blog may be called Crazy in Suburbia, but I don’t at all take the suffering of people with mental illnesses lightly. In fact, someone very close to me suffers from what’s called schizoaffective disorder—essentially a devastating combination of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

I am also a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and at one point in my life received a lot of help from the kind and dedicated members of NAMI's Contra Costa chapter.

So, I was very sad to read this report on Claycord.com about a woman who was found late Sunday night at Glenbrook Middle School with a self-inflicted laceration to her abdomen. Concord police told the Mayor of Claycord that the woman suffers an unspecified mental health illness that causes her to have multiple personalities. After police located the woman, she was dispatched via ambulance to the Contra Costa County hospital, which includes a 72-hour hold at the county mental health facilities.

I read about this on claycord and wonder how they could let her keep doing this. She is a danger to herself and really needs help.
