Replacing Taxi's in downtown Walnut Creek: what I hear is a yummy Vietnamese noodle shop

The banner out across our neighborhood's once beloved Taxi's hamburgers on Newell Avenue says: "Pho's Saigon Noodle Coming Soon. "

The sign doesn't say what "coming soon" means, but this new restaurant appears to be part of a chain of noodle houses, named for the classic, casual Vietnamese dish, pho, which typically consists of white rice noodles served in a clear broth, along with variations of seasonings, vegetables, and meat. A foodie friend, familiar with this chain, says it prepares food made with fresh, flavorful ingredients.

Let's hope so. While I miss Taxi's, I'm a fan of Asian food, and of Vietnamese, so I'm looking forward to giving this place a chance.

Taxi's was a fun place when it was up and running. Here's to the Vietnamese place making a go of it, I will definitely drop by and give it a try!

Love those noodle soups in the winter!

I drove by tonight and the "noodle shop coming soon sign" was not up any more. Not that it looked like the most secure sign, but is this still in the works?

Dear Anon. Aug 7, 8:50 p.m.,
Thanks for the alert. I'll have to drive by myself and check it out. In terms of the signage, it seemed a go up until a week or so ago...
