Homicide in Walnut Creek

Another homicide took place in southeast Walnut Creek, with the death Monday night of a 48-year-old Hayward man whose body was found at the San Miguel Drive home of the suspected killer.

Walnut Creek Patch and the Contra Costa Times are reporting that the killing took place in unincorporated Walnut Creek at the far south end of San Miguel Drive. At about 7:12 p.m., deputies responded to a medical call in the 2300 block of San Miguel Drive where they found Jeffrey Mead Patterson who had died at that address.

While there, deputies arrested 48-year-old Shannon Mitchell Alexander who lives at that address, according to the Times. He was booked into Contra Costa County jail in Martinez on $1 million bail.

Sheriff's officials wouldn't say how Patterson died or what prompted the killing. They only said that Mead and Alexander knew each other.

In November 2010, a 24-year-old transgendered woman was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of her 56-year-old boyfriend in his home on Santa Rita Drive off San Miguel Road. In April, Akira Jackson was sentenced to four years in prison after a plea bargain allowed her to claim self-defense in the death of Alan Gray and plead no contest to involuntary manslaughter.
